Distorting and Wave-Shaping
A few facts about distortion and waveshaping:

  • Distortion works with signal overload, shaping is controlled change of parameters.
  • Waveshapers and distorters add overtones. It's therefore sensible to use material w/o a lot of overtones, e.g. no square wave but sinus.
  • Waveshapers and distorters react to the amplitude of the signal. The louder the signal, the  higher the distortion. Below three ways to control a WaveWrapper.
  • Multiple wavewrappers multiply the effect.
  • The effect of waveshaping is best used with modulation.

    Controlling shapers
Three common ways to control the sound of two oscillators with a waveshaper module:

    a) just by the amplitude of the sound
    b) an envelope
    c) let one oscillator control the modulation.
